You're not alone if you're an Audi driver and you've been confused by its model names. Fortunately, the company is planning to make things a little clearer for its customers by implementing a global standardization of its model names.
Under this new naming system, model names will consist of one letter and one number. The letter A will represent low-floor vehicles, while the letter Q will represent high-floor models. The numerical designation will range from one to eight and classify models regardless of their powertrain type. This differs from the previous practice of associating even and odd numbers with different powertrains.
The biggest change is that all-electric and combustion engine models will share the same naming structure. However, body styles such as the Avant, Sedan, and Sportback will still be differentiated, as will powertrain codes.
The first vehicle to adopt this new naming system will be the Audi A6 with a combustion engine, which will be released globally on March 4th. The new naming system will not reflect existing Audi models already on the market.
Regardless of naming conventions, Audi Springfield has an excellent selection of electric and combustion engine vehicles for sale. To learn more about our inventory or to find the right Audi vehicle for you, visit Audi Springfield in Springfield, MO, today.
