When Does Audi Plan To Be All Electric?

The carmaker, Audi, plans to get rid of ICE vehicles, or internal combustion engines, by 2026. At this point, Audi has announced that every new model will be all-electric by this year and that Audi will cease production of all combustion engine cars by 2033.

Audi Plans

The carmaker announced these plans as part of the Vorsprung manifesto for 2030. This is specifically about how Audi plans to be more and more sustainable during its vehicle development. The announcement also went into more detail as to how Audi plans to slowly get rid of all combustion engine cars.

The plan is definitely for them to make more and more sales from electric and less from combustion as time goes on. This means, in general, that there will be more and more E-Tron-type vehicles. In general, these vehicles currently use similar tech as what the Porsche Taycan uses. Going forward, however, Audi plans to make their all-electric cars have more and more of an Audi feel and less and less looking like other brands like Porsche.

To make the transformation towards all-electric work, Audi plans on focusing more and more resources on the transition. It's not just being green that motivates the company; they have frequently said that they consider this move necessary to stay competitive in the current market environment.

Other brands are currently following suit, so it only makes sense that Audi feels it must keep up to ensure that it doesn't fall behind the times. This is why the company plans to phase out the combustion engine vehicles they still have in order to focus on electric vehicles. This way, Audi can still make combustion vehicles from old schematics until the 2030s, at which time it will be no longer making these sorts of vehicles at all.
