Make your weekend fun fly high by attending the Cherry Blossom and Piñata Festival on Saturday, April 22, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park in Springfield.
Celebrating our city’s Sister City relationship with Isesaki, Japan and Tlaquepaque, Mexico, kids of all ages are invited to take part in all the fun-filled activities at this family-friendly free event. Highlights include kite building and decorating, piñatas, chopsticks instruction, face painting, origami and much more. In addition, there will also be live entertainment for you to watch, including interactive folk dancing that highlights Japanese and Mexican cultures.
While you’re here, you’ll also have to check out the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, which also won’t cost you anything. The fun doesn’t stop there, though. When the festival wraps up, attendees are welcome to take part in a no-cost concert featuring a Tlaquepaque band that really knows how to jam, so be sure to wear your dancing shoes!
