52,000 Audi Recalls

Audi Maintenance

Automotive manufacturers spend countless hours and endless amounts of money, testing their new vehicles in an effort to ensure they are free from any major mechanical flaws or problems. Despite automotive manufacturers best efforts, problems are still found down the road after the vehicle has been released on this market. This is precisely what happened recently to Audi, which announced in mid-December 2017 that it was recalling approximately 52,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada over fears that the fuel lines leak and can potentially cause a fire.

What Models Are Affected by Audi’s Recent Recall

The recall covers certain 2012, 2013 and 2014 Audi A6 and A7 vehicles, and it’s been announced that it will begin contacting affected owners starting on Feb. 5, 2018. If you do receive a recall notice, the manufacturer will cover the full cost of the replacement fuel lines at no charge as long as you bring your vehicle to a certified Audi dealer.

The problem is related directly to an issue with the fuel lines. These lines were designed with a compression point that made them easier to install. Unfortunately, the manufacturer only recently found out that this compression point can begin to weaken and eventually create a fuel leak. This certainly increases the risk of a fire, which is why Audi immediately issued the recall as soon as it learned of the potential problem.

The good news is that no fires or injuries have been reported as a result of this fuel-line issue, which means that drivers probably have nothing to worry about. Although, if you do receive a notification from Audi that your vehicle is included in the recall, it is recommended that you bring it to a certified Audi dealer as soon as possible.
